that's a hell of an ambitious plan, and an off-the-shelf long arm kit likely won't work with an axle swap anyways. Sounds like you need to do some more research.

 

Wait so its a 4.5" lift on 31's... so I could put 33s on it? I thought it was 17"in the back STOCK.

 

Read Again. 33s will fit but you need to trim the fenders.

How much off road capability will I loose by choosing an AT over an MT?

 

You will loose 75% get the km2s. They are good onroad

 

X2 for the km2. I love mine on my Xj they are quieter then my good year at's on my Yj

 

it also depends on what kind of terrain you are driving on. if you drive mostly on the street and sand, then the at's are your best bet because they are better suited for high speeds and road handling and the tread life is a lot longer, but if you drive in the Indiana mud like I do, you would most likely want the km2's

 

X3 for km2s. They are quiet enough on the street to not effect conversation in the cab, the tread life is great for a mud tire, and if you wheel I you will hate all terrains.

 

I have km2s. Had them for a few months now. I drive 60+miles everyday and there is no tread wear so far.

My buddy was running the same size in a/t and there pretty much garbage in mud. I was in 2wd all the time while he was in 4

 

If mine was a daily driver I'd go with AT due to manufacture's claimed better mpg. Also limit to 31x10.5x15. Otherwise I agree with everything that's been said about KM2s.

 

I'm new to this... so go easy.

I'm curious how much is "too much" before tierods and draglinks, etc must be modified. I'm trying to work out 5.5" with some additional spacers, but I'm not sure how far I can go before things get tricky.

I'll be running 33" tires. Does this also impact the necessity of modifications?

Also, what kind of modifications and do you have any recommendations? (pics are a plus - I'm very visual)

You don't need to go higher than 5.5" to fit 33's. im on 4" and 33x10.50's and it is great.










Right around 5.5 and up I would say your steering angles would be off. Harder to align, squirrelly on the road, limiting droop, and is still stock inverted Y garbage.

You'll feel the 33's with stock gears, the 33x10.5 KM2's aren't that bad though

No rubbing with proper trimming and bumpstops and it flexes like a champ. All pics were taken on the same boulder

Same here, I run the same combo and the lift/tire size work perfect together.
