Bought my 99 XJ with a 3" lift. Want to upgrade to 5" using spring spacers and shackles. Already have extended brake lines and new shocks for 4.5-6" lift.

Was planning to get:
-1.5" T-case drop kit
-new track bar
-drop pitman arm
-extended end links
-lower control arms

What else do I absolutely need?

Edit: I know about the SYE but I heard you can get away without it on a 99 or older. Also I won't be doing any rock crawling.

Buy the SYE. You absolutely need it. A T-case drop is half assing it.

Get adjustable upper control arms, fixed lower control arms and drop brackets or just buy a long arm kit.

And the factory steering setup won't work. Look into a crossover kit.

So I have a '98 4x4 and its sagging 1.75'' in rear and 2'' in front. When I'm coming to a stop at about 5mph and lower there is a grinding sound that makes me think something is warped, because its not consistent through the stop. I know this isn't much of a lift question, but I'm wondering if its because of the sagging? I'm planning on either 2'' spacers in the front and if I can find them 2'' full packs in the back, I don't want AAL but I'm having a hard time finding 2'' packs. Does anyone think this will help? or have any other ideas? If this is not the right place to ask I will gladly take directions to the right thread also.

That doesn't make an aal any better though. You should seriously consider getting a full pack. Especially if you're paying someone else to put it in.

Default Question about SYE

I have a 2000 XJ and I was wondering if anyone would think I would need to get a SYE. I'm pretty sure the kit I plan on getting comes with a transfer case drop, but would it be better to go with a SYE.

Yes. An sye would be better. How much lift do you plan on getting?

jeez...I been trying to research lift kits and the parts needed and Ill tell ya. for a newb this crap is confusing!!! lol

between opinions, and mixed reviews of other companies, I think I am going to just settle for a Rubicon express super flex 3.5 inch kit with full leaf packs...

Few questions that have most certainly been answered then burried...

It will be going on my 01 Xj. aw4, 4.0 with the np231 Tc

now says on there website that the max tire size is 31x10.50 which is exactly what I want to run. but then it says 97+ xjs have smaller wheel wells. so my question is how much trimming with be needed? Id like to run the stock bumper end caps till I can get a winch bumper and some fender flares..

Also says that I need an SYE, but Ive read on here I might not...which is it? yay or nay?

and then whats the deal with a front drive shaft being used?...and angle shims...? will I need those?

pretty much think Ive researched so much my heads about to blow...I just want a lift damn it! haha

and any other parts I will need! lol just overwhelmed at the moment. I come from a place where all my buddies slam our trucks(C10 world with LSX motors..) never went upwards! haha just low.

I know these questions get old, and I know they been answered a million times, but Ive honestly read so much stuff I have become unsure of my own decision..

Oh and one last thing, is there a vendor, or site that has this kit for the absolute lowest price...? working on a budget..

The wheel well size never changed on the XJ. The front fenders changed and that's it. 31's will fit fine I run 33's with a RE kit

As he said, the most trimming you may have to do is at the back of the plastic bumper caps on the front bumper.

With an '01, you'll almost certainly need an SYE. Plan for it. You can use a stock front driveshaft in the rear after you install an SYE. If losing 4x4 isn't a problem, you can just put your front shaft back there until you buy a second one.

31x10.5 is a good size for that lift, and it's perfect if you don't want to trim your fenders. Look for 15x7 wheels to go with those, 3.75-4" backspacing.

I will be running the stock wheels which are 15x7s.

And just out of curiousity now, why do you say I will need an sye for an 01? are other years different?

and Ill just get another driveshaft from the pick n pull...not loosing the 4x4 lol.

If its a 2wd drive it better have at least 400hp, and about the same amount of torque..lol better be running fast!
