It looks like about 1/4" hole. Doesn't look drilled because the way the material is pushed in. So far I can't find any damage under where the hole is.

Its a fill hole. Its a stamped cover so the hole will naturally flare inward. The rubber plug that goes in the hole is gone. People around here pull the plugs then look inside the axle to see if there is a locker in there without pulling the cover off. They just discard the plugs. Take a pic of one of the holes.

I saw a similar thing at a pnp near me. Definitely not the filler plug, it was on the left side behind the ring. Maybe they were trying to find the ratio stamped on the ring?

On rear ends, most vents are on the tubes farther away from the pumpkin.
