Why don't you just take the drop out, lengthen the driveshaft and install new u-joints?

That's the easiest way to correct the pinion angle.

As mentioned the rear axle pinion should be parallel w/ the output on the t-case, w/ the type of driveshaft you have.

You'll have to remove the drop, make the pinion parallel w/ the t-case output(you can use shims to do that) and measure the distance between the two.

Lengthening a driveshaft, rebuilding it and balancing it isn't horribly expensive.

Default Why Not SYE ?

I agree the SYE is the way I should have gone....But this is where I am now..I'm out of time and my discresionary funds have reached the end for now...
I am scheduled to leave one week from tomorrow for Baja with this jeep......Now there are a LOT of Jeeps and some good Jeep mechanics down there...
Is there anyone who would consider this trip ill advised with this set up ? Im not going radical wheeling....But the roads are bad, and some side trips will be on soft and some times washboard roads..
Thanks all.....

Sounds like a good time!

I'd be going, you don't need no low gear.

How stressed is the exhaust? I wouldn't be surprised if you end up with a couple cracks in the manifold/piping
