All depends on how tall your trailer is

Every trailer is different. So what I did to find out how much of a drop I needed was to measure all the trailers I had and several buddies trailers. Most of the trailers were level between 15 and 17 inches. I decided to measure from the ground to the bottom of my hitch receiver built into my bumper. It was 32 inches, so I bought a 16 inch drop to keep the tongue of the trailers all around 16 inches off the ground. Its worked pretty well.
