2" Tranfer drop ?
Hi all,
Ok 3-1/2" Tuff country lift with a 1" transfer case drop....Vibration at 25mph...I realize I probably should have just gone wtih an SYE kit, but I had it at a transmission drivetrain shop, and they said , you don't need to go SYE.
After checking U joints , they changed the shims under the leafs from 1" to 1/2" and lowered the transfer case from 1" to 2"..Its a big drop. The vibration is gone, but now she doesn't want to stay in low 4 wheel...
See pics...The linkage pivot point seems stretched ....Am I going to be able to adjust this out ??
Thanks ahead of time...

A 2" t-case drop is just wrong, especially at your lift height. Your linkage is screwed until the drop gets fixed. Aftermarket linkage would work but you got other problems. First thing I would do is check your u-joint for play. If they are worn out, they will cause a vibration and noise. If its in your budget, get rid of the drop and get a sye. Also, can you post a picture of the rear ends pinion angle? Curious to see how they set it up.

Hi Thanks for response...U joints were checked .They are good. Vibration is gone. SYE just got pushed out of the budget for now. Can do later.
For now can you point me to aftermarket linkage? That may have do for now...

Drop Linkage
OK Thanks, that looks a little easier and cheaper.....I'll try that out.....Maybe that will work till I have money to have an SYE installed..

That pic is off...need a better pics, as that one almost looks like the pinion is too high.
If you don't have a SYE, you need to have the angles the same but opposite at both ends of the driveshaft...not all at one end.
Whats the angle like @ the tcase ? I guess with a 2" drop, it could be close to the same.....
I would NEVER go to that transmission shop again...not even to say FU !!!

A linkage kit might have enough adjustment to fix binding issues too.
A sye kit, and removing the drop would be the best solution.
The driveshaft angle doesn't look terrible to me. Maybe the pinion could be a little lower but, that should work.

U joints "checked" by the same place that dropped your t case far enough for it not to work.
Replace them for very little time and money on that rear shaft and when the pinion is parallel with the t case you'll be golden. No more crazy drop.
