I'd be willing to bet an XJ is a bit faster than an S10 Blazer to (at least in a straight line). Though neither is really built for speed.
The most powerful engine in an S10 Blazer was the 4.3L Vortec rated at 190hp, 250lb-ft and a 4X4 S10 Blazer with the 4.3L weighs about 4200lbs.
A 4X4, 4.0L XJ Weighs around 3400lbs, and the 4.0L I6 (96+) is rated at 190hp and 225lb-ft.
So the XJ has less torque but weighs 800lbs. less.

I had a stock 95 blazer with 30" BFG arts and I was keeping up with Cherokees on 33s on the trail. Granted I have a hell of a lot more fun in my cherokee and I do not miss the ifs and the ****ty ball joints

I drove an '87 K5 while stationed in Utah and it was a great vehicle. Couldn't hear the radio on full blast because it had no headliner or insulation to speak of but it pulled like hell. My next vehicle was an '88 XJ and even though it had no carpet it was a lot quieter. The 5 spd made it pretty darn quick too.
If you're talkin' about a later model S10 then they are great because you can't hear the transmission fall out until you run over it with the rear end!
