Default What Kind Of Tires Do You Run?

As I decide which new tires. I`m leaning now toward a all terrain tire as they would be better on the hills and snow by me in PA. Hankook DynaPro AT2. Love to hear from someone that has some experience with them? The thought is growing on me as the OEM Goodyear Fortera`s cut me way short of their 60k spec. Plus, surprisingly the AT2`s are made in USA and have a better wear rating, not to mention less $.

Or another choice?

I'd go with the Goodyear Duratrac, or Mastercraft CXT they are both AT style tires but they still do good off-road unlike most AT tires. They both do great in the snow also.

I'm up here in Syracuse NY and am on my 4th set of Cooper AT3s. They are perfect in the snow, run quiet on the road, get me good traction on dirt roads and loose brush-covered trails, but lack traction on wet grass unless you tear up the sod. They run around $149 each for my 245/70R16s.

The hankooks are wonderful tires we have about 50k on the ones on our SUV right now although If they’re made in the US however that would have to be something new because I don’t believe that’s ever been the case ? Can’t go wrong with cooper either .

What size are we talking? Budget? I'm a Cooper convert now. Helps you can get the ATs (not the newer AT3s) from Wal Mart (online) for just a bit over 300 shipped to my door for a set of 235s. They're still made in the US, if that matters to you, my set shipped to me from Arlington but I think they're made in Texarkana. Their other ATs are highly praised as are their MTs. Nexen is another brand that's becoming quite popular in the off road world.

I'm running a new set of Goodyear Assurance all seasons. We haven't gotten any snow or ice yet so I can't tell you how they are in adverse conditions.

I am on the Cooper Evolution STX (came on my XJ), I am also in a southern state, but so far they have done well thru rain, and even had them off road. I am committed to wearing them out, but once they are done, I believe I am going to go with the Cooper AT3W. I want something more aggressive.

I'm 2 and a half years into a set of 31 inch General Grabbers. The budget BFG All terrain. Quiet and decent all round. Not so good in the mud but it's not a mud tire. Excellent in the snow

Cant beat the Duratracs. Rated at a 40000 mile tire, i have a little over 30000 miles on mine and still a hair over half the tread left on mine. Have never had one problem with them on or off road. They dig in great and get you the traction you need. That beeing said the only real complaint i have with them is they dont let you really play in snow or slick mud cuz they just dig in, catch and your on your way

Thanks for the advise folks. I should have mentioned I have a 2015 Laredo with 45k mileage. She wear`s 245/70 R17`s. The OEM`s are Goodyear Fortera HL. Seemed like the Fortera`s were nice tires, but the tread got down to 3/32`s in 45k miles and snow is near so I figured I take a different route. As with most, cost is an issue or I would splurge for the Duratracs or a set of Michelin`s. Goodyear was nice enough to have the tires checked and showed a slight front end misalignment that I`ll need to pay to have adjusted (I do not think there was any uneven tire wear). Was set to buy something from Sams Club (Wrangler Trailrunner), but for a total of forty bucks more I`m leaning toward the Hankook Dynapro AT2 from a local dealer. Getting free lifetime rotations, and tires say on them Made In USA, which are factors for me (I`m trying to get past that it is a Korean company though). Can`t find anything anyone said bad about them, all positive. Specs are slightly better than most too. Figure if they work out well on the Grand Cherokee, I may use a set on my Wrangler?

Check out the Mastercraft Course MXT, made by Cooper tire and about $550 compared to the $800+ for the Duratracs
