My Jeep was vandalized and I could use some advice. I don’t want another car, I Iove my car. Nearly all the windows were broken and the side and hood were graffitied.
I started removing some of the glass, it wasn’t too hard.
After I taped the windows and moved it off the street, they came back and hit it again, knocking out one already broken window. Someone really hates my car.
Today I cleaned up more glass 🧹
I learned how to take off the window crank: PRH.
The panel popped right off. A little tricky navigating the door lock piece, but just wiggle the panel around it. Leave this piece on, just carefully wiggle the panel around it. Next I will remove the side window glass. What fresh hell is this? 😮 I don’t know this tool. Does it matter which window to install first?

Reason: Spelling error
Toolkit includes a stool, paper bag and various brushes for cleaning up glass. Small bits come up great with tape or damp paper towel. I should get proper gloves. Flathead screwdriver Phillips screwdriver Small container for loose screws. I use a flower pot with a hook 🌸 Lots of tape for cleaning up glass. I don’t have a shop vac, so I make tape ***** and stick them on the end of my screwdriver. Small stool for sitting and contemplating next steps. PPE: Mask for glass particles😷, safety glasses and safety shoes. I don’t have gloves, so I used a regular glove and a plastic bread bag to protect my fingers from the teensy glass dust particles. Dispose the bag each time. 🤲🧐

Reason: Add stuff
Should I do anything to maintain the door opener or lock rods? Any other maintenance to do while panel is off?
Wow, those bastards. Sorry this happened. It looks like you have it under control. However, if they keep coming back, you are at a disadvantage. Did you call the cops?
The inner door mechanism needs to be well lubricated with something that lubricates and protects the metal for long periods of time. I think I used the silicone spray with some additives for metal protection. The local hardware store should have some. Remember to spray the key hole.
For the glass, take it to a service station/self car wash and use the vacuum.
Thank you! Right? I did file a police report, and when I can get a spot I’ll keep it inside the gated parking to discourage future attacks.
thanks so much for the advice about the door mechanism and glass cleanup, I will do it.

Today I requested quotes for a new header. Anyone use interesting fabric, colors or patterns here? It’s a nice big canvas. Can a header be made with an image I provide, for example? Paisley? Plaid? So many possibilities.
The header was sagging before, now it is way worse from exposure to elements. It could look cool ... it’s a giant canvas. I wonder what’s up there, a family of bats maybe? The foam looks pretty hinky, too.

I am more a traditionalist so mine was done like it came from the factory.
But it is yours to do with what you want.
Even green '70's **** carpeting if you wanted. LOL.
Here are some images to get you started.
WOW!
So sorry to see that happen to you.
It might be an ASU Sparky that did that to you seeing that you are wearing a UofA hat?
It would be cool to see what you come up with for your headliner in the long run.
But here are a couple videos of how to do it. There are bunch on youtube just do some looking.
This last one I used on my build. I think it is the best.
Go to Joannes, or Hobby Lobby and look for something a little on the heavy side, and something you like?
Year: 1998 Classic (I'll get it running soon....) and 02 Grand

Or you. Or your politics. (bumper stickers?) It would not be a bad idea to review your parking behavior. Bad parking can really get some severe backlash. Or maybe you cut somebody off (didn't see them?) and they are getting revenge. Whatever the reason, there is probably a reason. Random attacks are not usually repeated. A hidden camera might be a good idea.
Identifying the WHY might help to reveal the WHO.
Since you have the door panels off, attack the door locks with penetrating oil, and work them work them work them. This is to dissolve old crud. Then wipe up the mess, and repeat with white lithium grease for a long term lubricant.

Luckily windows for these are pretty abundant. There may be some for sale right here on the forum. Often on Craigslist and in scrap yards. The Cherokee I’m driving right now, the previous owner one morning went out to find the rear window had been smashed out overnight. The next night someone came by and somehow had set the Jeep on fire. Luckily he had noticed the fire and it was extinguished before any irreversible damage was done. He supposedly had no idea who did it or why anyone would. He also only had basic insurance so he didn’t even bother to make a claim so it was not totaled.
It took me some time to clean up. I had to replace all of the interior aside from door panels and carpet. Even the seatbelts were melted away. A new rear window and a new windshield also. The radio I was able to use also. The dash had just the removable panels melted. Oh and the steering wheel was ok. If it weren’t for the blackened ceiling and paint burnt off the roof one would never know it happened. One day I’ll replace the headliner and paint the roof.
It just goes to show that these things can be taken apart and put back together so easily. The rear hatch you may be better off having the glass replaced by a professional but the side and door glass is pretty doable by nearly anyone. If all else fails maybe turn to EBay for the windows but parts on there are generally a little more expensive. Oh, another site I’ve been finding ally of good stuff on is https://www.partrequest.com/ There is a collection of parts from various sights on the web all in one place.
