Pulled the engine out of my 97, posted the carcass for part-out. Mostly interior stuff left..

I had been planning to drop that engine into my 98, which I bought with an overheated engine. Nope! My son left it uncovered with the manifolds off. Valves are rusted solid. Engine can't be turned over. Probably a few cylinders with rusted rings, too.

Guess I'll be rebuilding the 98's engine. I'll hang on to the 97 engine just in case the 98 block is trashed.

Expensive stuff but then so is a body shop. Does a little go a long ways or would that defeat the purpose? I've got a few small areas underneath I wouldn't mind treating. I plan on watching that "Bronco frame" video later on.

I got six 1/4 pints for 75$ I used 2 of the six for that area shown, 2 coats. Even though it states little prep is needed, I took over 4 hours of prep just for that section. It's very tight so an angle grinder wire wheel only works so much. It was pretty labor intensive, but makes for a better finish. I'm sure anything is better then nothing.

I could live with that kind of cost.
I've got one area (among a few others) inside the top of the box where the rear spring mounts. Not rusted through but looking rough. I bought a compact sand blaster a while back that I'm going to experiment with. I used it for the first time last week on the gas tank filler/vent hose cover. Worked pretty smooth but then it wasn't on the vehicle. Definitely going to have to cover up from head to toe when using it under the vehicle for sure.

Factor in a respirator if you dont have one. Not a paper filter one. One like this

This stuff will wreck your lungs, also dont get it on yourself or you'll have a free tattoo for a week or so. Wear eye protection as well just incase you have any drops come down.

I did, but had to reinstate him. I am questioning that decision!

I don't know how he holds a job. I'm just glad he does.

So far.

Don't get me wrong - he's a good kid. Heart of gold. He's just unable to see the big picture, and has a memory like a sieve.

Finally finished everything. I got the steering as close as possible, but I plan on doing a linkage upgrade anyways. Gearbox is leaking so prob do both together. The locker works amazing! Night and day difference.

Default Don't let it sit..

I haven't even started the Jeep in a few days, while quarantined. Today, in the middle of some two inches of rainfall, I was heading out to get some groceries. I start it and a few seconds later, I'm smelling gasoline big-time! I look under and wave my hand through a stream of liquid streaming from an area by the driver-side, front control arm bushing. It's gas, and quite a lot of it.. It and I are both sitting home, today..

Well this is kind of a coincidence.
Got a little nervous today.
Been raining hard today. Jeep hasn't moved in about 5 days.
So I am on the porch smoking a cigarette and notice this rainbow in the water
looking like it is coming from the driver's front corner of my Jeep.

So I popped the hood poking there and underneath and not seeing a thing.
So I take my hand and brush all the water away from the Jeep in that area and it comes back.
Start the Jeep up and back it up about 10'. Still not seeing anything.
Then I notice this.

That is the sump pump line from the basement. I called the landlord and he said they did some work
on the oil lines. Cleaned them or something. laid down a bunch of speedidry on the floor.
The weather is supposed to be OK tomorrow.
Started thinking for a bit that the oil change I might do tomorrow was going to be put on hold. LOL.
