New power steering pulley - the squeaking is gone!!
and a new fan clutch which was easier while the pulley was off
Things I've learnt today.
1. The odd tool you want is the one that has gone AWOL since you moved house
2. If you get the nuts off your fan clutch and tap the back to free it off the pulley - make sure the fan doesn't fall straight down past your front swaybar onto your toe. Because it's a lot more painful than you might think! hahaha
I drove the Comanche. The Comanche started misfiring. I started testing and throwing parts at it and it's still a pile of poo. Noid light test was good, compression is good, spark looked good. Tried different spark plug, cap, rotor, plug wire, coil, and icm. Nothing changed. All the plugs look the same except for number 6 number 6 is wet, the rest are dry.
Changed to royal purple a bit ago officially decided my engine sounds ****ty and developed a knock changing to Rotella t5 10w-30 go from there on the noise in it persists I will start preparing for an inframe rebuild reason being I don’t burn oil and my pressure looks great started shopping around for a new fly wheel to throw in while doing clutch
Got another set of Volvo injectors for the Comanche since I'm 4 hours from home and at least one is pretty clogged up. Going to try to throw a new fuel filter and the injectors in to get it home.
Replaced the fuel filter and some injectors on the Comanche. I have a couple spares in case one goes bad on the way home. Hopefully the new filter will catch the crap though.
Didn't do anything over the weekend. Got a bit more done today. Have a few parts finally ready for paint. Here's my front calipers.
Here's what a 2 day soak, in white vinegar can do ! When I start, I hit them with a wire brush to remove the big stuff, then I degrease them. I soak in vinegar about an hour, then brush them off with a small SSTL wire brush. Then let them soak overnight, in this case two nights. When I take them out, I brush them again with the small brush.
Then I rinse them in cold water, to neutralize the acid. Then try to blow them off with air to minimize flash rust.
The caliper on the left, lightly flash rusted after blow drying. The caliper on the right has been wire wheeled with a brass brush. A quick wipe down with Acetone, and they're ready for paint !!! Goning to try to get to painting tomorrow while I install the new ball joints. Should have the front end wrapped up in a couple days, if my other parts come in ?
