Today I drove XJ in 98 degree heat with a heat index over 105 degrees. I blasted the AC the entire drive, about 30 minutes of city driving and idling for 5 extra minutes once I got home. The temperature never went over 210.
I think I can finally say my engine issues are solved after replacing the head and all that problems I had.
Well my cheap Ebay LED pods are bright enough, but they don't throw the light as wide as I would like. They do offer nice fill for the headlights. They will be replaced as soon as I have the funds for a good set. If they survive till them I might move them to the back as auxiliary backup lights/work lighting.
I think the biggest thing is that thye are so much whiter than my E-code H4s that they make the H4s look yellowish.

Pulled it out of the grass after six or so weeks of not driving it (no real reason, the back is full of stuff I need to sort through and store or get rid of) checked fluids and blasted it down the highway. Round-trip of a little over 200 miles in 104 degree heat, 75 mph with AC on & no issues. Favorite vehicle ever.
Not really today... but these last few weeks have been eventful. Got the engine in and all running good after the rebuild, mounted on some new Stinky Fab motor mounts. A day and a half later the fuel pump went out on me, so i replaced it with a Bosch and she ran again. Then another day of driving and the transmission went out. I somehow found a brand new transmission for a price i couldn't pass up and swapped that in along with a transmission mount also from Stinky Fab. during all of this I fixed my death wobble with some Currie control arms, I'm very happy about those! Next I moved on to the aesthetics of the rig. My dad and I completed the sheet metal fender flairs sent them off to ponder coat. I also ordered the Mojave front bumper from Dirtbound Offroad, which matches the fenders PERFECTLY!!! Then I got to work truck bed lining the lover quarter panels with U-Pul Raptor Liner, with the help of both mom and dad. The next day we applied all my new black decals. The current project that is still in the works is the custom roof rack. It will be at powder coat soon! I also need to track down a code its throwing, P1391. I replaced the CKP yesterday and the light went off, but it turned back on today. Besides that I think the rig looks pretty good.
So anyways here is some pics!

It's been too hot to work outside, near 100 degrees and very humid this weekend. (You guys in the southwest living in 115 degree heat may scoff at that! )
I assembled the parking brake components for the rear disc conversion using all-new hardware. Easier than working with the backing plate on the axle and it shouldn't hamper grinding out the center hole to fit. (Also I was able to work inside the house with air conditioning!) Hopefully the parking brake won't need a lot of maintenance. One of the reasons for doing the disc conversion is to get away from having to wrestle with drum brake springs and adjusters. (Even on these parking brakes they're a PITA.)
One oddity is that the star adjusters had to be installed in the same orientation rather than mirror-image on both sides. Doesn't seem right to me, but otherwise one of the adjusters would not be accessible via the slot. I did make liberal use of anti-seize so hopefully things wont rust up too quickly.
Also, though Big David's kit came with the wheel studs from the ZJ I went ahead and ordered new ones, along with new lug nuts. Everyone loves shiny new parts!
how do y'all usually run power to exterior lights in an xj? and do you run a switch to the cabin?
I got rid of the lights that were on the jeep and replaced them with these. I just used the original wiring and splice the new lights to the original wires. I'll post a pic.
Been a rough weekend for me. Managed to set my alarm off again and couldnt get it turned off for a couple hours. finally it let me crank it and i drove it home. Got back in it to pull down to the shop and it tripped again. tried grounding purple/yellow wire but wouldnt shut off even when screwed to the frame. Left it to all hooked up overnight and it seems to have stopped, no clicking or lights flashing. Any thoughts? Also got pricing on a t-case and door. Is $200 a fair price for junkyard parts?

I really dig those front flairs would you ever considered making another set for sale in really like how they look
Yuuupp. Now back to fun stuff: ZJ gas tank skid, sliders/rocker replacement, upper control arms and bushings, and more.
Steve, are you getting a WJ? That wasnt in your list ...
How easy is the ZJ gas tank skid? I've got one off a parts ZJ and hesitate selling it to someone with an XJ not knowing the ease or difficulty of installing it.
