Last night - wipers quit working on me on the way to the store. Was only raining lightly, thankfully. Pulled the cowl, remove the motor and linkage and discover the stupid plastic retainer cap popped off. Snapped it back on and got it all buttoned back together within 45 minutes. Thankfully I didn't need any parts 'cause I discovered it at 1030 last night.

Nice! Now you just gave me an idea of what to do with the XJ seat I pulled. Thanks!
Parked her In the garage.... I've gotta get the front end figured out and need to get the rest of the u joints, bearings and what not replaced.... haven't done it since I've owned it so it's time for an over haul....
Went to open the rear hatch tonight - and nothing happens. Acts like it doesn't unlock though the key turns OK and of course this happens with a lot of stuff in the back.
Must be a common problem, there are lots of youtube videos showing how to fix it. Will give it a try tomorrow if I have time.

mine broke to bud it is very much so a common issue.
Fixed the rear latch. It was pretty much a piece of cake, the hatch opened up using the press in to the left of the handle trick. (That also explains why there was a shallow depression in the sheet metal there, this is not the first time this has happened!)
Then it was just a matter of pulling off the plastic hatch panel and repositioning the latch pull rod about 1/8" further up in its clip. I carefully bent in the clip a little bit to get better grip, mindful that if it broke things would get more complicated.
One of the videos I found suggested using wire ties to prevent the rod from slipping down again. I don't know if it will work, but I figured it can't hurt anything...
A quick and easy job. Much simpler than when the driver's door lock on my daily driver was stuck and I had to remove the interior panel with the door closed!
Swapped out the worn out intermediate shaft from my 92. Snagged the one off the 96 parts jeep I have. "Toyt like a tygaaa!" as gold member would say.
Then I drove it (death wobbling all the way) to Soggy Bottom tires to get the wheels balanced since they had no balance weights on them at all. 2 out of the 4 wheels are bent and the tires are slightly out of round. Well... I guess I'll be buying a couple new wheels and then later on getting a new set of tires. Oh well.
Still have DW, but it's not as bad.
In other news... never had this happen before:
Sheared right off when I was removing one of the LCA bolts off the parts jeep. I've grenaded ratchets before... well... just one. My old (USA made) Craftsman. But it was the gear assembly that fell apart in my hand, not the shaft shearing off!
