Finally got it started after two months. All I had to do was replace the CPS.

After all the b!tching I heard from people, I was surprised it only took 30 minutes!

And, just 'cause I just did it, and you have such easy access - replace the CPS.

nah. Why would u replace a known working part with a questionable one?

I would suggest taking the cps off and cut slots on the bolt holes so whenever u need to replace it, u can just loosen the bolts and slide the cps out. U wouldn't have to worry about losing or dropping the bolts inside the bellhousing

Jeez, I wish I had thought about that when I had my transmission out. It would have made changing the CPS so much easier when it died a couple weeks later. I probably would have cut out the wrong side of the bolt holes any way

What's the lifespan on a CPS? I've got 144K miles on mine and am tempted to change it as preventative maintenance.

if it ain't broke don't touch it trust me. Buy a new one and throw it in your glove box as a "just in case"

Great advice. I've never seen a CPS fail at a convenient time. They fail when you're leaving work early before a storm, when you just bought 50 burger patties and ten gallons of ice cream for an August birthday party, or when you stall out in a mud pit.

Maybe gently place it in your glove box wrapped in bubble wrap.

Got all my parts for a small upgrade to the front: Synergy extended swaybar disconnect brackets, Goferit tie-rod flip insert, and Riddler diff covers and Lubelocker gaskets. Going to put the tie-rod otk when I get the chance, then look at some additional steering upgrades down the road.

Also switching to a trail setup on the fenders and bumpers. I already got the Napier flares a week ago, and today I ordered the JCR Vanguard winch bumper and Smittybilt X20 10k winch.

I apologized to Bella after witnessing several XJ's in a sad state of repair that were being punished by people that didn't know what they had. Then I took her out for a nice seafood dinner.
