Started taking out the transmission yesterday, got as far as disconnecting the transmission lines and removing the old exhaust before it clouded over and rained us out, going to roll back under it in a bit and try get the drive shafts out and the shift linkages disconnected before it rains me out again.
On a plus note, the cross member bolts came loose real easy

Nice. Need to pick up some soon. Yesterday I got my engine hoist put together, put the stroker on the engine stand with better hardware (used what I had when I got it home, had to stack washers to make it work, so it's nice to have the right stuff there), and gonna power wash it today, and paint the oil pan. This week I'm gonna start buying the things I need, like new oil filter (removing the OCOD that was on there), new flexplate, fan clutch, water pump, thermostat, and anything else I need/want to replace. Starting to get closer to tear down and removal of the old motor, work hasn't cooperated lately, long hours and OT on the weekends....as soon as I have all my ducks in a row on the new engine, I can start tearing down the old...getting antsy!

Fought with a broken lug nut all day yesterday and today. Think I'm gonna quit the cold chisel and just drill out the stud. Unless there are any other suggestions. Anybody else done this?

Then again, I keep forgetting a 1/2 drive impact wrench isn't a common tool. Being a professional has spoiled me...

Perhaps you mean "an insanely overpowered if you need this much torque you will just break things impact wrench"?
