Weekdays aren't good so can only wrench on weekends. Finally defeated E torx bolts from transmission and removed the motor. Now the fun starts. Can't wait! Feeling like the bimmer cuz it took two weekends. Lol

Disconnected my aux lights because the relay corroded and melted on my aftermarket fogs. I don't know why it did that so I removed power to the others so that my Jeep doesn't burn to the ground.

After a month of unseasonably cold temps here in Texas, I got tired of having to bundle up every time I left the house. Back flushed my heater core in the sleet and freezing rain today....man it was terrible! Now I got melt your face off hot heat again.....course next week it will probably be 70 again.

Any of the used 31s I could find that were in my price range, were garbage and had no tread left on them. The ones that were even close to being good were way over priced, think only $20-$30 under the price of new. These will get me through the winter and into the spring no problem and I can stash some money away and get new tires and rims mid spring. Besides any off roading I will do between now and will be minor and not need bigger tires

My original plan was to just run the tires that came with it for the winter, but they turned out to be death traps with the slightest sign of snow. They were so bad that I would have to put it in 4wd just to back out of a flat driveway. the tires that were on it looked fine tread wise. They had plenty of depth and siping, they just didn't work.

Keep in mind I have two automotive projects on the go right now, the XJ which is winter transportation/upgrade project and a 92 Dodge Stealth R/T. Parts for the R/T are stupidly expensive and hard to find up here, meaning I have to cross border shop and pay through the nose on shipping and brokerage fees on most things I added up the parts bill on the Stealth a couple months ago and I am over 5K into it now and still have body paint and interior to do

Picked up a shop press. It's almost time to start swapping bushings.

I replaced the 22 year old PS Ball Joints for Christmas, the 22 year old Intake/Exhaust manifold gasket and 22 year old Fuel Injector o-rings and seals for New Years, then had to buy my 3rd new belt in a year and a pulley for the Power Steering Pump......then I slipped in the snow and put my elbow thru the grill...so guess what's next?

Piece of crap Jeeps, so unreliable!!! Couldn't even make it a quarter-century without wearing apart!

What's the story here? Rodents? Belt dressing destroying them?

(if you buy a fourth one try a Goodyear Gatorback)

Default Not much really...

Finally copied this odometer photo I took on Tuesday from my phone.

Pondered what oil I'm going to use next winter.

Pondered the ASD relay being the cause of my slow start issues.

Pondered upgrading the radiator and trans cooler in the spring.

Pondered OFA o-rings and brown dog mounts.

Pondered not needing the block heater plugged in since it's over 20 degrees.

Man, I am right there with ya...I have worked weekends for the last month. I am ready to yank my old motor as well. Guess where I'm at? Those 2 E12 bolts, and then the mounts, and it's out. Let me ask you this: how did you get to those 2 bolts? I laid under it yesterday and tried just about everything, and couldn't get to them, but it was the end of the day, and ended up cleaning up and going inside, as I had been battling off and on rain all day, and it was getting dark...plus my gorilla mitts are freakin' huge, LOL

Yeah it's been great hasn't it? I don't mind the cold and I don't mind the wet, but this business with both at once is just getting silly.

My heat works, it just takes a week for it to get hot. I have a 15 minute drive to work, which frustratingly enough is almost precisely how long it takes the jeep to make good heat. This is following 3 full system flushes to remove the mud from the previous owner's neglect. My '06 CRV will melt your face off before I can even get off the road my house is on (<2 miles)

I remove the crossmember bolts, lower it down a few inches, remove the upper bolts, and then jack the crossmember back in place and bolt it up.

This is how I got mine, along with about 5' of extensions. I have bad elbows and needed more room to operate the tools and getting past the transmission and TC were the only way I could do that.

Just one question, if you are pulling the motor out of your XJ could you not just pull the transmission and motor as one unit?

Why? That's a lot of work.

I'm gonna try and pull a 4.0 this afternoon without removing the radiator!!
