wife told me that coolant was leaking on the jeep... again..

so I decided I have had enough of chasing stupid coolant leaks and surging temps.. and ordered a whole new cooling system!

Radiator, cap, upper and lower hoses, plastic resevoir, thermostat, housing, fan clutch, belt, shroud.. by god im going to fix this!

My list:
Rustys full leaf packs
Rustys coils
Front and rear skyjacker 8000 shocks
Drop pitman
Ucas
Lcas
Extended brake lines
U bolt kit
Sway bar discos

I'm ordering this list:
Control arm drop brackets
Double shear trac bar
Tcase drop kit
Slip yoke eliminator

Is there anything else I'm gunna need?

You don't need a t case drop and an SYE, just go SYE.

Default A little wet work

Like me the Peep is getting older and always dripping a little of something or other. Well getting punched in the face with a deer in November didn't do any favour to the rad. Must have flexed big time knocking down 120 lb at 90 kph. The leakage wasn't fixing itself and just getting worse along passenger side core to tank interface. Then the thermo housing copy catted and started to weep. The final straw was the water pump getting a day shift posing as a shower head. We allways keep all receipts in a folder and the rad was Specter lifetime warranty.(Last pump and rad at 425Kkm in winter 2010, prior to that 300km spring 08). No parts warranty problems (again) at the local Canadian Tire store. They also had the new water pump in stock. So free rad ($168 w/tax value, gotta love it the second time round) and $68 for the pump. Hoses were in good shape and a clean up of the thermo housing, scrape off the old gasket and sealed with tube product of permatex ultra copper flourosilicone. Exchanged the rad and pump and all fresh on the anti freeze mix. Once again dry as a bone.
The dog assisted through the day with moral support and offered some soft fur behind the ears each time my hands were about to freeze. Kept her free and clear back in the dog house until any rad fluid was mopped up. My wife provided a home made soup, cool beer, and doggy chew bone. -20 C before the wind and the Peep rolling 659Kkm is ready to face the balance of winter.
(PS I'm one of those that a manufacturer should never provide a lifetime warranty to. I should be back to the parts counter for the 4th in about 3 years at 700, lololololol)

Well I put on my rear quarter panel armor. Are there any write ups on cutting the area below that? Fixed my coolant smell was the return line from the radiator to the overflow tank. Fan must've cut it. Then had low oil pressure so changed the oil and found out that the sending unit was barely hanging on. So replaced that and wapow oil pressure!! Lol

Yeah, don't need t case drop. Add a driveshaft to the list. Should be able to use a stock front shaft from an auto xj with the SYE.

Spent all morning cleaning all the grounds I can find on my '00 XJ. There's a lot of gunk down there. Trying to figure out my very random, seldom stalling issue. Cleaned the bolts next to the alternator, the one above the oil pressure sending unit, the connection to the starter. Just found one behind my dipstick. Cleaned it all up and found this:

I know it's ground but should these wires be this exposed?? I'm not a electrician by any means, so correct me if in wrong, but even though they're connected to the same hanger, should the wires be hidden up to that point?

Best if they're not for corrosion reasons. As to danger of shorting out, no worries as it's a ground.

Awesome, thanks! I wrapped a little electrical tape around both just cause I'm OCD and felt weird with exposed wires. It'd be quick in the future to rip off (if it doesn't come off by itself)

Darn jeep man.

Did all that cleaning and polishing just to pull it out of the driveway and have it stall our on me. I've never dealt with this kind of stalling, it's like each cylinder pair goes out at different times. The jeep runs on 6, then 4, then 2, then pfft. Turn off, throw in neutral (usually because I'm going down the hwy or backroad) turn back on, no issues for the rest of the day. Why I thought it was a ground, maybe something jiggled too loose at that moment.
There's a new Mopar TPS, CPS, CKS under the hood and a new coil pack from autozone. Are the coil packs like the sensors and shouldn't be bought from autozone, etc?
Hrm. Back to under the hood.
My oil pressure sensor is going, keeps telling me I have between 45 and 80 psi depending on idle or throttle opened but I changed my oil/filter 3 days ago. Think I may have bumped the sensor.. :-/
