Froelich makes a really nice linkage kit to replace that factory tangle of brackets. It works real nice and will not likely snap or fall off like that nylon tie strap. Just beware, delivery times may vary, so as long as you have a few days before installing it.
if I upgrade to anything it'll be the Novak cable shifter

I guess I shouldnt say its a POS, but its a super pain to adjust. It will shift perfect for 6 months, then the next thing I know my tcase is poping out of gear. On the trail its almost impossible to adjust it with the skid plate I have. So I just disconnect it and then adjust it when I get home. Its always done that. All the jam nuts, and brackets are tight. When its works properly it works perfect. If you want to give it a shot I will sell you mine, its coming off because I am doing a 5.3 swap in my TJ right now.

FST is backed up for months on headlight orders. He won't be getting much of anything out for a while. It's design is really simple though, a threaded rod with some heims and a plate.

Drove an hour and a half to get 20 miles home from work, because nobody seems to see the value in 4 wheel drive around here. Only three inches of snow. They can't make it up a 10% grade.
Then I did spins in front of all the cars parked at the bottom of the hill in my hood. Put it in 4L, up the hill, then spun tires in the driveway
