2000? That's wimpy. Hold it at 3500 for a solid 3 minutes in park or neutral!!!Originally Posted by sycoglitch
What, let the rotella clean things up. I have held the brake and revved to 2000 and it does get quiet after that but next startup it taps until warm. I'm curious if its the filter

Not sure tbh. Don't think its gonna blow but thought the best way to blow out carbon and such would be under load. Will do it in park tomorrowOriginally Posted by cruiser54

Are we blowing out carbon with water or trying to loosen up a sticky lifter with Rotella?
Still doesn't know.....

Possible sticky lifters. Wasn't making noise like this until I ran rotella. Ill try your method. Shouldn't be carbon in there. I know the 4.0 is a diesel sounding engineOriginally Posted by cruiser54

Depending on how she sounds I may run a qt of mmo in there

Then put it in second gear and take it on the freeway. You find all the cool exhaust leaks under load at 4000 RPM anyway! (3rd if you drive stick)Originally Posted by sycoglitch

Can a sticky lifter be cured. Ill be happy to Rev it and drive. Wanna make sure the new style Napa gold filters aren't bad. Noise is louder at startup and get quiet when warm

My Zj 4.0 doesn't seem to like the heavy rotella as much as my older renix 4.0 did. Idk just a side note lol.Originally Posted by Tom95YJ

Yes, it can. 3 minutes at 3500 RPM in park. May have to repeat a few times. Maybe in the weeks to come. The filter should be good. YOu could go buy a new one and put it on. If the noise stops, return the original filter to Napa for a refund.Originally Posted by sycoglitch
