Default used axles

ok, i'm getting all the part together to rebuild my axles. i need new spider gears and carries for my d35. i found a set of axles with nothing but, a set 4:56 done to them. nothing else has been done. the guy wants $400. but i think thats way to high. . it will give me my carrier, spider gear and a set of 4:56 when i bump up to 35's. what do you guys think.

Pretty much a waste of money if you plan on replacing the D/35. Why do anything until you get ready for the swap?

Not a waste if he only has to re-gear one axle later.
I would try and negotiate price though.

yeah, that was the other thing. i really don't need the whole rear axle. but, he won't part the axle out. need most of the front axle. so, i'm lying to myself about the rear just for the gears. because i do plan on going 35's real soon.

as for the price. i'm tring for under $300

Yes, it would be a waste of money.
If he is going to swap axles in the future to run 35s he will need to swap the D/35 out and replace it with a D/44, C/8.25, or an 8.8 or some custom axle.
He could decide to go with an 8.8 or D/44 with 4.10s or find a C/8.25 that has been regeared. Point is that if he ends up going with a different ratio when he does the axle swap he is out 400 bucks for a D/30 axle.
Plus, I wouldn't spend more than 150-200 for a D/30 axle unless it was already locked.

Depends on what he pays. It can cost more than $400 to regear ONE axle

Yes, it could cost more to regear an axle, but if I were planning on an axle swap to run 35s I would wait and get the axles and gears I wanted when I was ready for the swap. I don't have the money to throw away if I change my mind on ratios or lockers, and I don't have room to have junk axles and spare parts laying all over the place until I need them.

Plus, there is a chance that he could find a set of axles that would have the rear axle he wants with the gears and everything he needs for the same or less cash.

here's what i'm facing. i'm really only doing this to patch the axles up till i can get a dana44 and 8.8.

my front axle is wielded up. i need a new carrier and spider gears to finish my rebuild. now, i've grown to liking the frontend wielded up. because it's cheap way to lock up the front. plus, not up for buying a air locker for the front till i can get a dana44. so, i what a fresh carrier and spiders to wield up and get me by till i can build the right set of axles.

so, i looked around at a new carrier and spider gears and they run from $200 to $250 to my door.

so, if i can get the axles for around $300 that will give me a carrier and spider gear plus, a set of 4:56 for now. i feel thats not going to be so bad for so winter fun.
