I ran a harbor freight 6k. Whinch no problems. And i over worked I pulled out a tahoe with 11 inches of lift on 40' ground hawgs. And it was buried i did a straight pull. No ****** block yea i had to wrap my strap around a tree and pin it in my rear hit h so i could pull him seeing as an xj weights a max of 4k and his tahoe weights 8 k with all the mods. And being stuck. U could imagine the force my winch was under and it didnt quit on me it just moved slower. And avoid the synthetic line. Steel cable has been around for how many years???? Me personaly. I rather trust everything on steel then plastic. But the badland win hes arent bad at all just get the warrenty for extra security

 

Looks like I have some thinking to do then about the HF winches. I honestly have yet to see a bad review..

But on the flip side for a few more bucks I could have a name brand.. But then is the HF winches get the job done why not

 

Ive never had a problem but a buddy had one and he used it for the first time and just died on him. He went and got a new one under wareenty. And the new one hes used multipal times no problems. My brother tahoe. He has a rough country whinch a 12 k. And first it the lever froze up so he couldent free spool and then he was winching and it was going. And heard a big bang and now its on freespool no matter what. And it cost way more then a badland

 

HF has the 12,500 on sale with their online coupons all the time for 299 add the warranty and your still under alot of 8k winches. I have a few friends who have them and Four wheeler (if I remember correctly) did a winch test and gave it good marks and called it the best winch for the money. I plan to buy one, use it and if it breaks or any issues at all get a new one on the warranty.

 

Yeah that's true. I finally got to see my friends in action and it worked really well. It's on a toyota but still. I was impressed.
