97+ XJ Tablet/Note 2 as Headunit | CarPC - Ideas and questions
I have a spare Note 2 Im thinking about installing as a CarPC/Headunit.
So here's the idea formulating in my head;
For mounting, I was thinking of using some random plastic plate (or any other stiff material), and velcro the phone to it. Using the same mounting holes and the radio mount. Using longer screws and adding washers between the plate and mount to make it flush with the bezel.
Use this plastic as a filler around the opening in the bezel. Not sure if I should try left or center; thoughts (see pics)? I was thinking of filling the excess area with additional USB charging or other audio ports (ideas welcome here) to make it look as clean as possible; a blank area will stand out too much.
I dont plan to go nuts on the sound, but don't want it to sound terrible either. I was just hinking simple for now and split the jack directly to the radio wiring. Assuming there is a factory amp to power it; is there?
The remaining layout would be tablet/phone > OTG cable to USB hub that would be powered by ignition, that USB hub would have its uplink from another hub that has direct power. That said, where do I tap in for these power sources? Would the factory radio wiring suffice here?
Thoughts? Ideas? Input? I have it all wrong? LMK
