Ive owned a TJ and a YJ, I liked them both. I just have a little girl and dog that tag along nowadays so the extra room in the XJ is nice, and overall I just like it better all around. I respect all breeds, just not a fan of the non-enthusiasts of the offroad community that think a Wrangler is the only Jeep ever made, if that makes sense.
... and that's a reasonable, mature answer.

After explaining to my girlfriend that my Jeep may have ended up in a junkyard if I hadn't bought it...she said "Yeah, it should have went to the scrap yard". I damn near hung up on her, and she cried in apology afterwards. I decided to forgive her because her beater car is rustier than mine and she would've been upset if I said the same thing about hers! LOL

Yea, I didnt mean to come off sounding like a hater earlier, just have a lot of narrow minded Wrangler owners around my area that get a big head and a feeling of superiority over other Jeep vehicles. Considering the theme of the thread was "things you should never ask an xj owner", it seemed like the type of thing that would fit.

Without knowing the backstory I could see how it would sound like some highschool kid that bought an XJ and now thinks he's a wheeling god. Not the case, I just like to take the family with me and haul my giant cooler with me, XJ's a no brainer there, and thats the response I give.

It's a very common attitude here. I wanted a TJ in the first place, but I couldn't afford one. I very reluctantly bought an XJ with the "Well at least it says Jeep on it" attitude. I learned to love that thing.

When I rolled it, I spent 5 weeks shopping for the right Comanche. Drove that til some ***** cut me off in a heavy storm and slammed on her brakes. It was drivable, but the insurance company totaled it. I decided to part it out, and I bought my YJ.

I almost didn't buy a Wrangler cause most of the drivers are arrogant douchebags...but I already am one, so I didn't have far to fall. I'm really glad I got it cause it's a whole other beast, and I'm learning all kinds of new stuff. It also changes your perspective once you've owned both, and the whole rivalry seems childish.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna go back after this. I love the Wrangler, but I miss the XJ.

My dad always says his Rubicon ifs so much better and he's got 34x10.5 swamper ltbs and I always tell him you let me get 34 lbts lock front and back and I'll be equal (if not better in some areas) but spend like 8 grand less!

Yeah, I paid a fair price for my YJ, but I could've bought an XJ, a lift, bumpers, and sliders for the same amount of money.

Well said. I like characteristics of both platforms. Wish I had my current XJ and my old TJ at the same time. I miss the top off thing at times, but when I had my YJ and TJ (I also started in an XJ) I often missed the room and the extra comfort/stability of the longer wheelbase. Like you said, once youve had both you realize they are both fun and have their purpose.

CJ-8 was a LWB CJ. LJ is the TJ with a 10" longer wheelbase and more storage room. That's what I want, but the prices are ridiculous, and the aftermarket is limited due to the low number of customers...just like the Comanche I had. I won't ever buy another MJ. It was a pain in the *** to find parts or diagrams for anything.

X2 I would LOVE an LJ, like a 2 door XJ and a TJ combined. As mentioned though, they are very pricey.
