Older cherokees had a very easy steering.
I know mine had no slop in it whatsoever.
One evening my designated driver (ex girlfriend who never owned a vehicle before) kept zigzagging. I could see she was constantly over correcting. She says " your steering is so loose and sloppy" .................. Me being drunk and proud of my jeep, I was loosing it. I felt like she was insulting me...
I later explained the difference between "loose" steering and "easy" steering.
she never drove again with me inside.. She said.. Its fine when you are not there.... .. did I mention she is my ex?

"You can't tow that." "You don't even have a V8!" "You're heap would break." "You can't fit that inside your cab." "Will it roll over if you put that on your rack?" "What's wrong with it now?"
All these remarks and I just respond that "trucks are for work" and half the fools that say this junk actually use their personal trucks once every never... I tell the Full size guys-- "I get competitive gas mileage, can park in so many places they can't, like spots in a parking lot, and I'm not paying to drive a FST around for trips that an I-4 can handle."
If you're lifted, you can always boast ground clearance with these dudes too.
I also respond, "Why do you need a monster truck to drive to work?"
"If you're truck is literally 6x better than my jeep to offset the 6x price difference, then you win."
That shut's up a lot of them because they know they paid a lot of money on their regular, seen everywhere else FST, which unless it's like a 3500 crew turbo diesel, it's not what I'd consider remotely 5-6x better.
"I do like trucks and would love to own one, but I have yet to encounter a realistic job that my XJ and trailer can't handle."
"I don't need a truck to carry air and old beer cans."
"My jeep can pull my trailer with 2 dirtbikes and a four wheeler, or a small camper for a lake trip, or I can slip my xj through some trees and back it up to the river for fishing." "GP/Jeep's are exactly that. General Purpose vehicles- not tow rigs, not gas savers, but just a little bit of great in everything."

ask him if he can fix a deaisel. and ask him where hes gonna be when hes gotta dig his 3 ton truck out of the mud holek while as you only have to take a shovel to dig a relatively light xj out if it even gets stuck at all lol

Ive owned a TJ and a YJ, I liked them both. I just have a little girl and dog that tag along nowadays so the extra room in the XJ is nice, and overall I just like it better all around. I respect all breeds, just not a fan of the non-enthusiasts of the offroad community that think a Wrangler is the only Jeep ever made, if that makes sense.
