My XJ is 1999 4.0 and Im changing my tires to 31x10.5.15.
First question, am I 3.55 axle gearing or 3.73?
Axles are stock with LSD in the rear.
I do have a tow hitch but looks aftermarket fitment.
Speedometer gears I believe I need is 32? They seem to come in short shaft or long, how do I know which one I need?

You can also get a 'build sheet' from Jeep for free.
Older jeeps (1991?) with a cable driven speedometer use the long shaft speedometer. Electronic speedometer uses short shaft.

4.0L automatic only shipped with 3.55:1 in 1999.
If your tag is intact that'd be a bonus to verify. Otherwise the only way to know if it was ****ed with is to check: put it in Neutral, jack up the end, turn the drive shaft by hand. 3.5ish revolutions of the shaft to 1 turn of the tires and you have an answer!
