By now everyone should have seen my '96 Sport 2 door. If you haven't here it is...

My question is, To Lift or Not to Lift...
Should I leave it stock(its a 2WD) or lift it and make it look more like a 4WD?
Be gentle with me because I'm new at this.
If I decide to lift, please give me some recommendations.

Just my 2cents, You have a really clean XJ. I would leave it alone! If you lift it, it will get expensive! Lift leads to new tires...Which leads to new wheels...etc,etc. Decide what you want to use it for. DD leave it, offroad play thing lift it!

I only somewhat agree with them. First off, while do you want to lift it. Too look cool. To take it places, etc. Figure that out first. Now, I say of you want to lift it, look into a small proper 2" lift, not a budget lift please. So you can get a larger tire size there which will also you give some slight lift too, axles and all. That's my opinion. Nothing crazy since it is 2wd but with a locker and winch, you can have some fun. All depends how deep you willing to go.
Oh yea, is that aw4 or standard?

as said, nothing more than a 2-3 inch lift. anything more than that, you have to change out many parts, some that will kill bushings repeatedly.
small lift and tires and you can keep your stock shocks, control arms, track bar, brake lines... etc. see where i'm going with this?
30 inch tires on nice rims will make that look totally different.
then when you come across a 4wd model for cheap, you will know what you want to do with it.

Thanx guys ! I really appreciate your input on this. It will probably stay stock and I'll buy an XJ 4WD as a "play purty".
Thanx again !
