1989 XJ 4x4 auto 4.0
Bare with me here's the story of my fuel pump problems. Got this jeep and the fuel pump was bad.
Went and got a "precision" fuel pump at O'reilly's ($107) and it worked but fuel gauge wouldn't work so I took it back and traded it. Still no fuel gauge.
I took it back and got my money back and went straight to NAPA and got a "carter" fuel pump ($101), which I found out was a re-branded airtex. Put it in and still no fuel gauge. I got mad. I bent the bobber arm straight and boom! Fuel gauge worked and jeep ran great.
The jeep set for about 3 weeks because I'm working on it. I did drive it about 2 miles. Any way went to drive it again and the fuel pump is already bad.
I stupidly threw away original fuel pump assembly. Here's my idea. Take back airtex and get money. Go to junk yard and get me an original fuel assembly and then order me a Bosch pump. It would only be $95 total. So I actually save $6 haha.
Does this sound practical?

By the way the reason why I didn't just order a Bosch pump for my original unit in the first place is because everybody said get the whole assembly. So that's why I just "with out thinking clearly" threw the factory one in the trash.
Also they do not make Bosch pump assembly for my year jeep so getting a Bosch assembly is not an option sadly.
