In oregon they can write you a ticket for being doorless IF the rig did not originally come doorless or with doors that lifted off from the factory. That's where your CJ/wranglers, some early broncos, and scouts come in.
Hate to burst your bubble ron about "not in the regs" if you look again and see the little sentence that goes something like, "modifications to the exterior of the vehicle" that's where chop tops, exo's, doorless, and chopped doors comes in.
I have spoken with city, county, state cops and to lawyers about this. The basic answer is the law is on the officers side and the law is "left to the officers interpretation". So if the cops wants to be a dick, he's gonna be a dick and stop you.

Yes, a cop can stop you anytime he wants, that is why having a copy of the vehicle codes can be a good thing. As far as the statement that the law is what the officer's interpretation of the law is, no, the law is the law, and is not at the officers discretion.

Not to stir up ****, but Wronglers are made from the factory to go door less therefore they are legal that way. Cherokees were never made to go that way. I still like the idea and would like to have that on mine one day.

So if a vehicle can exceed the speed limit, its OK to do it because it came from the factory that way?
I cant get over how much BS gets regurgitated over and over because nobody REALLY knows. The cops dont have "discretion" either. Law is the law, PERIOD, end of story. Sure, they can pull you over because it looks dangerous and they really dont know. Id rather have them stop someone for doing something they THINK is illegal, and let them go when they find out it isnt, than not stop that person in the first place. But then again, I dont have a problem with the police like so many seem to. Maybe you get a ticket, but if so thats when you go to court and fight it...... IF there is no law saying its illegal. You better KNOW first, and I mean first as in removing the doors. I dont know every states laws like some on internet forums profess to, but a custom vehicle with no doors, welded door, chopped top, etc., is a custom vehicle and has to conform to state laws. If it passes inspection its all good. Id bet most states dont have a law pertaining to doors, and it has nothing to do with it coming from the factory that way.

A regular seat all that keeps you there is the friction between your but and the seat's material.
On a motorcycle your legs keep you in the seat...
Still ...going doorless is safe as long as you wear a seatbelt....

Thats it! I'm moving down to Oregon. The wheeling conditions are pretty much the same as Wa. and I can hack my fenders, remove my doors and forget about mudflaps. If I could ditch the flares and cut out the fenders, I could put on 35s without lifting any higher.

No.My point is: would the same argument above apply (or be valid) with my vehicle if I took my doors off. Not that I ever would. If the reason was that the Wronglers have a higher rocker, since my rocker is now raised, would it be "legal" for me to go doorless. Seems there would be a lot of loopholes in that reasoning - and nowhere for the cops to go.

I just have to make sure I can counter every point.
