I bought my 91 for $3000 and it was in great shape. Wanted to do some wheeling so I did. Found out if I wanted to do more, I needed to make some changes. So it began. It never was an all out trail rig, but a very capable DD/weekend wheeler. I probably had over $6000 in it when I sold it for $2000 a few years ago.
Get what you can get and make it yours. Whether you start with a beater you found in a barn for $300 or a solid rig for $3000 or you start with a REALLY nice one. Just make it yours. It's not my money being spent so what difference does it make what someone else does.

I find it funny that so many of these "hated" mods are actually great products and some of the most beneficial things you can do to make a capable xj.

i hate my bfg's.....but i bought them for 150 rims included...they wear good, but there are definitley better tires like mentioned. they are all over the place up here, kinda like huge rims, its the cool thing to have on your rig rocket, or nitto muds...

we had a all stock raptor with 5k miles on it with bf att's go through half the blues and blacks at rausch creek and didnt get stuck once dragged plenty of the underbody on rocks that we shouldnt be on but thats what skids are for and the sliders did their ork but guess what never lost traction once........... nuf said ill agree not best in mud but as a trail tire they are fine!!!

also how about when u see pipe welded to axles with a tiny stock coil uptop on show trucks lifted like 5 feet

That's me

Didn't realize I held such controversial views. I'm thinking about starting my own cult talk show... Anyone want to send in $200?

Soft 8s, forgot how much I hate them. Not that they're ugly, just sooooo overdone.

I'm not a die hard BFG'er I do have a pair on my Nissan and my Jeep has Falken Rocky Mountain AT's. I haven't had the Falkens in deep snow but I've had them in heavy mudded roads and they are far superior to the BFG's in Mud. Rocky trails they are both good and deep snow like I say I haven't had the Falkens in but the BFG at's kick serious butt.

I was snowed in two days on a camping trip a few years ago in the Nissan and had to drive out on a unplowed undriven road for about 15 miles before I saw the first trucks who were both stunned to see me come over the pass in my little 4 banger Nissan

I think it was a joke due to the obvious size of the blocks.

Ok I may not "hate" this mod, but bored throttle bodies. Those few mm's really going to get you up that hill or give you 3-5 mpg gain?
