Here goes:
If you got a manual window/locks I highly suggest doing a doorless mod considering it will be easy due to no wires
You could tune up the motor
Change tires/lift buy bigger ones
Paint wheels
Put a roof rack on
Mount some off road lights
Touch up inside

Just a few small ideas I thought of off the top of my head

Welcome to the forum and to the Cherokee world.

We can give you all kinds of cool things to do to it. How much do you want to spend?

But seriously how do plan on using it? Is it just your DD, is it going to be a wheeling rig or maybe a little of both?

As for the brakes, which line do you think is blown?

i have manual doors and that sounds pretty sweet! its going to be a dd but be able to wheel. thinking about some rims and tires and a rough country 3in lift. would there been anything i would have to modify for the lift? and how hard is it to swap out the 2.5 for the 4.0?

Check the rear wheel cylinders. They tend leak if old since they're drum brakes. Doorless mod is the best. The motor swap can be pain, if you have the appropriate tools and friends you can get it done in a day or two.

When lifting you should upgrade to an SYE incase you plan on going bigger, trim fenders.

As for mods, upgrade injectors, taurus fan swap, ZJ interior. Clean and paint your axles/diff covers

Slip Yoke Eliminator. To cut down on drive line angles that cause vibrations. It removes the slip style drive shaft connection at the rear of the transfer case and turns it to a yoke or flange style. You'll need a new drive shaft too. At 3" you may be safe without it. 3-3.5" seems to be the cut off point that it works for some and not for others. Anything over that for sure you'd need it.

You can also do t-case lowering kit to cut down on the rear drive line angle but they have their own issues. It changes the angle of everything including the motor, transmission and actually adds a little more angle to the front drive shaft output. I don't think a little drop is all that bad. Maybe 3/4-1" or so. Some hate them all together. You can always go back and do the SYE and drive shaft later if it still has a vibration.

For a daily driver I'd look at something a step above RC for the lift. It has rough right in the name. We sell Rubicon Express so I'm partial to that but look through the forum for a while and you'll see what most guys like or don't like. Some love their RC lifts. I've had one on another Jeep and didn't know how bad it was until I changed it.

The door mod would be awesome. One thing I miss about the Wrangler is my tube doors. Mine's all electric and the new hinge style so I still haven't done that.

Just generally go over it front to rear and check everything out. Make sure it's all mechanically sound before you get into modifying too much.

Have fun!

Its all about your budget. I just got my taxes done and will get a substantial return. Mine is already lifted with nice tires and spacers at the front and rear with new coils and leafs out back and new shocks. I recently came upon some single bypass shocks from another project I am working on. I want to install them onto the xj but in the rear or the front. Then I need to have the ac recharged and have an exhaust leak so I will need a new exhaust. And then the front drive shaft needs replacing as well.
As you can see things add up. The ladder of the items I want/need are what it needs and even those will cost a pretty penny.
Good luck! Do your research, check out other forums and see what everyone is doing, but do it right the first time.
