I took off my stock bumper recently and saw this behind it. I have no clue what it is for. Any ideas?

Its a vacuum something or the other however taking it off and putting a bolt in the cord is a quick remedy as it doesn't really serve a purpose. I ripped mine off with a crow bar when i trimmed my stock bumper, ha!

The Jeep Egg is a vacuum reservoir. When under heavy throttle, the engine's vacuum is reduced (something to do with air going through an open hole, if you can believe that).
The vacuum reservoir continues to provide vacuum to the HVAC and cruise control system when going up hills etc.
