Well since I have a 92 and am not blessed with the NBS dash there is a 2.5ish inch overhang above the radio but I thought that if I just moved the radio down where the AC was and put the AC where the radio was I would clear it and it almost did (lack of preplanning on my part) so since I had it all wired and in I just trimmed the dash a bit to get it to work and it looked good when the screen was in it and open but now that I sold it and just have a regular radio in there it looks like **** and just to get the stupid thing to slide all the way in I had to cut into my AC plumbing just all around bad idea but it looked good at the time lol

Rusty's off road air intake is the only mod I have regretted. I didn't see any performance or mpg gains, the filter was open to dirt/water, and it always go clogged up with oil.

I have now learned the only way to go is the k&n drop in filter.

I just like the whistling sound.

I was thinking about getting this for my stock 96 for the 8.25" rear. Could you elaborate on why you didn't like this type of locker?

Do you not like any 'lunch box style locker' or just this one in general?

I regret only going 3in with 31s

I feel like 4.5in with 32s is the perfect look now, but I would have had to deal with brake lines, new driveshaft/SYE, etc. Lot more headache and a LOT more money

My 1st regret was giving my 96 to my gf when she wrecked her car instead of using it for a parts jeep for my 4x4 conversion. The 96 took so much work to keep on the road, hence the reason I bought another jeep, plus two more parts jeeps later. I dont regret doing 4x4 conversion at all though, but now I have the 96 again in worst shape and gf wants the only parts worth anything for hers. 2nd regret was getting my gf into jeeps cause helping her takes away from working on mine. I guess those are both the same regret.

A mod i slightly regret is a used c8.25 with lunchbox locker. Great offroad and in snow, but annoying in a DD behind a AX15. I only regret this when I havent been wheeling in a while and forget why i did it.

honestly cant say i regret doing much to my jeep but one thing that comes to mind was the mounting option i went with for the safari rack, i went with the mounts that run in factory rails.....lasted bout 6months till i hit a bump and heard a horrendous thud on my roof then my buddy gets on the radio hollerin "dude your roof rack just jumped!" . I suppose if i didnt have the added weight of a 32 up there it might have been fine but the factory rack is held into the roof with 8-10mm bolts through rubber plugs that just straight pulled out.

the fix some steel plate with nuts welded on[inside] and 1/2" bolts through the roof....it aint ever goin anywhere now.

if i were to do so again i would go with gutter mounts, all around stronger mounting point and i believe the rack sits an inch lower.

Glad i found this! Just bought my first XJ this past friday. Looking to get a 4-4.5 inch lift on her and from the sound of it 32s are the way to go with that lift. I want the roof rack, but not sure now after hearing horror stories of roofs messing up. And i learned NO AAL!!!!

3 regrets

not upgrading my breaks when I replaced the front caliper, roter and pads

Putting crappy shocks on

The last regret is that I did not look at my jeep before I purchased it and I would have got some other xj because I had to tear out the interior. Now I have mis matched seats, no headlinner and ghetto carpeting in the rear seats and cargo area.
