1. buying a cheaper roof rack that didnt mount via gutter but instead mounted to stock cargo cross bars (going to buy the gutter mounts when I get payed). I LOVE the rack...just not how she mounts.
Im sure I will have others as I complete more mods on my jeep but that's the only one so far.

Glad i found this! Just bought my first XJ this past friday. Looking to get a 4-4.5 inch lift on her and from the sound of it 32s are the way to go with that lift. I want the roof rack, but not sure now after hearing horror stories of roofs messing up. And i learned NO AAL!!!!

Thanks for the info of what not to do. I was actually thinking of doing a short arm kit.
Buying adjustable UCA when I only have a 3" lift. I am going up to 4" but still not needed.
Buying non adjustable LCA's
Getting too long of break lines.. the front ones look like they could get pinched in the springs so I looped them one time and now the loop almost kinks at full drop.
I can't believe I made so many mistakes in such a short time.

Haha, I can't imagine. I drag my gas tank and rear bumper over everything and it drives me nuts.
Only regrets I can think of are the things I haven't fixed/modded yet.
I have no idea how you guys run roof racks. I don't even have the factory roof rack and have dents on my roof and I ripped the drip rails off on trees. Guess it depends where you wheel.

With out a doubt I would have gotten a 4.5" lift instead of a 3" lift and I would have gotten a higher quality one too.
4.5" lift is just one and a half inches higher but it gives you a lot more flexibility as far as tires and trails you can run.
The highest quality lift you can afford, even if it slows down the project, is like the foundation of a house. The better the foundation the longer the house will last. Same with the lift the higher quality lift is, the better foundation or platform you build from and needs to be the best it can be.
