My uncle ha a 97 GC. When he bought it it had 175,000 on it. When he traded it in it had over 400,000 on it and still ran strong. Mine is a 96 xj with 244,000.

88' has 224,500 and still running strong. my friends laugh and make jokes about it until they see it and compare to their newer cars that struggle to get past 140k

haha im a highschooler. and I beat my old 96 to hell. 12k without fluid change and im pretty sure theres a dent in the floor below the skinny pedal. but that was when I was 16 and 17. now Im 18 and more responsible and I have a real nice 99 that I take care real well. but i do totally agree if it was owned by a first time driver in highschool, and it's a jeep, civic, or altima, chances are, they beat the hell outa it.

My 1995 has 185,500. I bought it 6 weeks ago w 183000, and the main reason i bought it is my buddy John was a Jeep mechanic for years, and was AMAZED at how good it sounded.
And i went w a cherokee cuz my ex gf's 1993 Base XJ has 255,000 on it, and she beats the crap out of it, and does NOT keep up on oil changes. no floors in that XJ, but its still runnin strong. It's faster than my 95. I think because of the light weight from no floors, no rear def, no power anything, no rear wiper, no rockers, and consoleless interior! lol, either way, these things go for a while. especially if they were kept stock for a long time, like my 95.

The AMC straight 6 really hasnt changed since the 60's, they just added computers. The reason why inline 6's are so reliable is that they are inherently balanced which means the bearings last longer.
