Nothing wrong with looking for a little education! Expedition rigs can be a few different things for their owners. Basicly, it's a vehicle/setup that aids in exploration. You could use it to camp out and explore a new ORV park. Ect...

Yup. Expedition builds dont serve one purpose but many. I.e. Rock crawling builds can go low cog, 35s+ and armor everywhere. Expedition build can get away with 31s, under armor only, roof rack for camping stuff etc. the skies the linit

Expedition builds, as far as I've always believed, are basically just Jeeps that get modded to drive around freely without the "hardcore wheeling" aspect of things.

Like others are saying, camping, overlanding, driving around in the woods just for the heck of it seem to be the expedition kind of things to do. You usually won't find them beating the crap out of their Jeeps like wheelers do. I consider mine an expedition.

Its pretty hard here in the states to find a trail that lasts more than 3 days. Maybe in Alaska? There are a ton in Russia/Australia/Africa and their expedition rigs are usually built to handle mild offroad trails for along time without breaking. The main thing is plenty of extra gas/food/supplies etc. Quality durable parts is a plus as well.

Here in the US, its what people call their rig when they take it camping.

I would love to do this trail.... http://www.southafrica.net/za/en/art...dventure-route

If only it wasn't do much to ship a jeep haha.

That is exactly what I built mine for to drive it where ever my wife and I wanted to go year around.

Had planned on going out west this winter to Nevada, AZ, UT. with the Motor Home and trailer the XJ to use while we were there for a few months but some things came up and we are still here.

I guess you could call my other Jeep one also as it came with most all the equipment required and more comfort but just not the XJ.
