actually if it is RG6 or RG59 you can run it with 2 antennas but NOT with one

you want rg58(u), or rg8x (mini), either of these will work great for the Jeep... just avoid RG213(u), or RG8(u) in the mobile... they are REALLY tick and hard to work with

correct, it is if the antenna mount is grounded properly to the body.

I have a couple radios... lately I have been running a peaked Cobra 29 LTD classic, pushing 27 watts swing

then I have another cobra 29 GTL with upper and lower frequencies (26.515MHz - 27.855) mosfet final, swings to 40 watts...

THEN I have another Cobra 29 LTD with MORE uppers and lowers (25.615MHz - 28.305MHz) recently finished installing a mosfet final... swings to 48 watts

I have never ran these extra frequencies... but it is fun to listen

I am also rebuilding a Cobra 142 GTL wuth AM, Upper Sideband and Lower sideband, as well as a 25.615MHz - 28.305MHz frequency range. it only runs 25ish watts, but the Palomar linear is pumping out around 225 watt on the swing

for antennas:

My Base station has an Solarcon A-99 antenna about 75 feet off the ground

my Jeep has a 4ft 5/8 wave Firestik Firefly, it is VERY flexy and simple to adjust the SWRs

the wife's car has a 3ft Firestik II she gets out around 10-15 miles normally

Well I've just ran in to some cb problems of my own. Checked all my connections with the aid of my volt meter. Everything tests good. My SWR is in the danger zone!!! Taking the jeep to my cb tech next week. He's going to test it for free since he's already done work on my radio. Once we find and fix the problem I'll let you guys know.

Ok I finally got around to further troubleshoot my out of no where high swr. Continuity on coax, stud, spring abs ground all tested good but I replaced them all anyway. Upgraded to a heavy duty stud and 12' clear coated mini-8 coax. Out of curiosity I tested my wilson antenna and it had no continuity!!! So last night I picked up a 4' Firestick II 3/8 wave. Tubed it this morning getting an average 1.2:1 swr across all channels. I wish I would have tested this sooner.

I'm thinking my gf forgot to take the antenna down when parking in the garage cuz there is nothing I could see me doing that would break it. Oh well though I'm happy its all figured out and got some good upgraded parts.

Thats pushing them pretty hard!! My tech tried to get it higher but said my best performance would be at 27. If and when I get a chance I'll be adding some more power in the 100-250watt range. Just hope my new firestick can handle it.
