Just remove the antenna assembly and hook up the cb antenna like you would if it was on a bracket. You might have to drill the hole larger for the stud. The only issue I see is getting the coax through the firewall on the passenger side with out having to punch a hole through it. Running the coax through the drivers side puts the coax right on top of all kinds of wires that will leak electrical interference in. to your antenna. The best place to put a cb antenna is on the rear of the vehicle as far away from the engine as possible.

Just my 2 cents.

Another good spot that looks really cool on XJs is on either side of the hatch in the back. All you have to do is get two whips two brackets and a good amount of cable then wire it through the hatch up the side of the jeep and to the CB. I'm planning on doing this to my jeep and it looks sick having dual whips

Don't need a dual whip when you got a Wilson 5/8 wave length 4' antenna!!!

Trying to find a bracket like that that doesn't cost 40 damn dollars. Where'd you get yours?

to be effective dual "whips" need to be a certain distance apart from each other. IIRC its around 10 to 12 feet. I am a truck driver and have asked cb shops what is best (dual or single) and they said dual is better for getting in front and behind you, and single is more of a circle all around you, and also told me that duals are not effective unless certain distance apart from each other as i stated before.

As of right now I have a 3' firestick that mounts to the top of my jeep right about the inside dome light and it looks like a large RC car lol. All my friends make fun of my and a tree got hungry and decided to eat it since it doesn't have any flex to it

the higher the antenna the better you will send out/receive I'll try and find a pic of what i have for my setup, my cb guy is also into 4wheeling, so the antenna i got will hold up to that. I did not want a fiberglass one because i did not want it to break, and I did not want mag mount cause it falls off lol.

Old pic, dont have the 35s anymore, and fender has been replaced, but antenna is still in same location and same antenna (rear pass. side)
and mounting location pic

Yes and no. you can have a 100' antenna but with out a proper ground plane you're not sending or receiving anything. Just throwing that out there.

I only put my whip up top because I'm limited to ideas because the truck stop by my place only has a few mounts I could use.
