Should I try and talk him down to $800? His Cherokee is unmolested, but hasn't been driven since 1994. Only 500 miles since then. I like the Jeep....

Sitting that long scares me tho,Gaskets dry out sitting and will crack when you drive it.If the rats got in to it they love to build nest anywhere and chew up wires.

Relatively clean and unmolested. Body looks good and looks like it would clean up nice. Hard to tell about the interior but it looks decent. A bucket of soapy water and some elbow grease would make it look like a different vehicle. Motor and tranny will need a full service. Brakes will likely need flushing and both diffs need oil change. Tires and battery are obvious.

In for a thousand don't seem that bad. It's a 30yo Jeep. It will need work and almost ANY 30yo vehicle will need work unless you spend the bucks up front for a total resto.

If it was what I was looking for a grand ain't that bad. Nice looking XJ's seem to bring decent coin around here and they ain't making them no more. I'd say go for it. Offer him $800/900 but I'd probably just give him the thousand and take it home.

All fluids need to be changed,The gas tank needs to be dropped then cleaned and the fuel lines blown out then new gas in the system,The whole brake system needs a once over and probably new pads rotors and new rear shoes and springs.
