1996 2 Door Audio Upgrade.
I just bought a 1996 2 Door tonight. Driving home, I realized that only the passenger side speaker worked (at least that's all I could hear, don't even KNOW if there are other speakers). So I want to get a new system.

Kinda new to this.
Sub is rated at 50-150 Watts RMS @ 4 ohms. Amplifier is rated at 150 Watts RMS @ 4 ohms bridged. This'll work right? Crutchfield says "Usually, an amp is bridged by connecting the speaker leads to the positive (+) terminal from one channel and the negative (-) terminal from the other channel.".... so is the wire to bridge included and if not, what gauge do I need?
What kind of wiring do I need for this? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_211ZN3K...3-ZN3K-08.html Would I have to buy something like this?
Basically just curious as to what everything I need is.
Edit: Dropped the 2 channel amp I had for a http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500MRPF...-MRP-F300.html because it says "The MRP-F300 4-channel amplifier sends 50 watts RMS to each of your front and rear speakers, or switches to 2-channel mode to power a pair of subwoofers. You can also switch to 3-channel mode, then power a subwoofer with 150 watts RMS while the other two channels power a pair of full-range speakers." which matches the RMS of both my speakers and sub.

I'd get a 4g wiring kit. 8 is kind of small if you might want to upgrade in the future. You'll also need speaker wire. I prefer 12g with extra shielding on it. I'm not sure if they still sell it at home depot or not. It was about $1/ft. You will also need some RCAs. If you're only amping the fronts you'll need two sets of RCAs long enough to go from your HU to your amp run as far away from the power wire as possible.

Also I'm not sure of a good place to install the amp since I'm running the fronts and the sub off of the same amp. I'm open to doing research on my own if anyone could suggest a resource. I searched the forums here and couldn't find much. I also looked at 12volt and it seems more geared towards audio veterans, not noobs like myself.

If you setup your head unit right you definitely want rear speakers. They're not exactly expensive. Especially this time of year, there's all kinds of deals out there.
I'd invest in a solid head unit and 4 speakers before I got an amp and sub.

His system will sound WAY better with TWO good speakers in the front AMPED and a sub than 4 ****ty unamped speakers and no sub.

2 RCA cables, which plug directly into the head unit on one end, then directly into the amp on the other end. (One to the Channel 1 input on the amp and other to the Channel 2 input on the amp)
Then I need 12g speaker wire to go from the amp to the speakers and the amp to the sub. About how much should I need? I only have to go from the amp to the front right and front left speakers as well as the sub, correct? But for each of those I have to go double for the positive and negative wires. So I should take however long it is from my hatch to the front speakers, add a little, and multiply by 4.... and then add a little wire to go to the sub which is right next to the amp.
What are the pre-out ports for on the amp? http://www.crutchfield.com.edgesuite...MRPF300-i.jpeg How do I plug the sub in?
Crutchfield says the HU I'm getting has a sub pre-out, but which of these is a pre-out? http://www.crutchfield.com.edgesuite...KDCX395-B.jpeg
The thing on the bottom left is the wiring harness, the thing in the middle is the antenna (right?) and the thing on the right is the various outputs?
Bah, I've been reading the manual and it says I need a y-adapter to hook the sub up. I'm beyond confused.

What manual? You don't need a y adapter if the amp has a sub input.

The preout on the amp is for daisy chaining them. You don't need it. There are 3 two-channel outputs on the back of that hu. One is the sub, one front speakers and one rear speakers. The antenna is the black wire on the right. The black plug in the middle is usually for a cd changer.
What manual? You don't need a y adapter if the amp has a sub input.

Wait, nevermind. "The Y-Adapter is not required if a line output, stereo pair is used to drive both inputs of the bridged amp."
Another question: How is the speaker wire connected to the amp/speakers? I assume I can just solder it to the speakers, but what about the amp? Do I need terminals of some sort?

There is a block on the amp with screw type terminals. You put the bare wire in there and screw it down. You can get fork terminals if you want, but they need to be small enough to fit the amp.
