Is your new base of your high lift reversible as in do it have a threw hole that the jack could be inserted from the other side for the really lose surfaces?

 

It's isnt reversible, however it's a great idea. I may have to modify it.

 

Had to repair a shipping door bumper at work tonight. I found several more that are on their last legs and will probably fall off pretty soon. The one on the right of the door in this picture has the most absolute booger welds I have ever seen. At least 15-20 passes to hold the door to the bumperette. Tried to get a pic but I wasn't even supposed to have my phone so I couldn't get one of it. Definitely a 1st shift solution...

Well gentlemen im trying welding for the first time today. Ill be back later with updates and pictures.

 

My first attempt. Welding up some pipe for a friends exhaust. Any tips on how to make it prettier?

 

Turn up the heat, watch your puddle form, then make O's or J's, then move the puddle down the tube. I welded my shackle relocation boxes to my bumper tonight. 3 1/2" grade 8 bolts hold the bumper brackets and relo boxes to the frame, 6 1/2" grade 8 bolts hold the bumper to the brackets plus a gusset I added. Might gusset the front of the box to the frame. On this side I had to add a 1/4" plate to the driver side to fill a gap.

 

Damn thats really clean

I, as well, was eying the miller 252 for months. Managed to catch the flash sale and jumped on it. Got a brandy new 252 shipped to my door for $1750. I can't be happier with it.

Next time I catch one I'm buying an 80 gallon ir compressor and running shop air.

 

I just got a new lincoln 180c. I love it, it's much better then my Snapon MW120. Let me know what you think.

Has anybody welded electrical conduit with flux core? I think it's called EMT. I have about 100 feet of it and thinking of making my own roof rack. Helpful tips?

 

Is that galvanized? You have to grind clean everywhere you intend to weld. Welding galvanized is terrible, but doable.

 

grind off all the coating on it. U don't want to be inhaling the vapors.

 

This. Galvinized coating, when heated or burned creates phosgene gas. It can make you extremely sick and even kill you in the right dosage/exposure...
