Default Sway bar link brackets.

I picked up some grand cherokee sway bar links and need to make a "U" channel for the upper links. I was wondering what thickness and material to use? Home depot has some 1/8 x 1 1/4 steel but it seems a bit over kill, and not the easiest to bend.

i would use .120 if you got a vice you can bend it pretty easy.

1/8 isnt even close to overkill......most aftermarket ones are 3/16-1/4''.....if your talking about making sway bar link adapters.

There is a lot of pressure put into our sway bars. I would think 1/4" minimum. I would source some small structural channel and place a small cut on edge if you just insisted on going this route. Why not just get links? I would start a thread in this section after/while you're building these btw...

Really that much? This is my first real fab project so Im new to all of it. And these links are way cheaper than then anything else Ive found.

yeah, that much. It's literately controlling the sway of the body relative to your axle. If you don't make them strong enough, they'll just fold up against the body.

I made some new cheap disconnect's for the front sway bar. I used to have a 3" Lift and was running a set of skyjacker quick disconnect's, but when I added more lift and am now at 6.5" of lift I made longer disconnect's for it. Basically I just got some 1/2" rigid conduit pipe cut to length I needed, welded 2 pieces together and drilled the holes for the pins to go through. And painted to preference.
