don't know why you guys think the early xj's have weak gutters.
my warrior rack has been on for close to 10 years with over 200lbs loaded at times with not one visual problem to my gutters.

i would trust the gutters way before i would trust those rails. but that's my opinion.

rack looks good tho, and nice job on fabbing those mounts. even tho i think those mounts are much stronger than the rail their mounted on.

Thanks for the compliment! I'm not saying the rails are stronger than gutters, my opinion is I will NEVER have over 200 lbs in motion up there and I feel that the gutter mounts are TOO strong and solid for the amount of flex that the body has and the weakest link is the sheet metal gutters. I know there are people out there that have run both for years with no problems so to each their own right!

That came out really well the mounting system is very creative. Love the desert tan paint on your rig.

What kind of track are you using for the monts. I was trying to figure that out in the pictures but, I am sure it is something simple that I am missing.

I tore the rain gutter trim pieces off mine a couple weeks ago thanks to some low hanging pine tree limbs. I would like a more solid mount, lower the Yakima bars to be able to use my cargo carrier for camping trips.

The track that I'm using is the stock cargo rack track for the renix era xj's. it's factory on mine because its an 88
