Then I decided to take another old wireless "G" router I had and connect it to one of the ports in the back of the ugly blue router..... Now what this does is take the internet and gives me the ability to turn it into my own wireless signal with a separate IP address.

separate on your end, but the internets just sees you the same as whoever your leaching off of. Good job tho.

Also where do you live at that has that many open networks??? I wish my area did, I see like one or two driving through my small town.

Exactly.... BUT, the person on the end of the signal I am leaching off of will NOT see me on their network at all so they wont bounce me off.... They may notice a serious drop in their internet speed if the signal I am getting is strong on my end tho (evil grin).

I live in Southern NJ, This is the most densely populated state in the country, makes for more signals. The idea is really to have decent internet when at campsites, near coffee shops etc. Its not really necessary but its just another way for me to hook up my XJ with some original home brew mods. I'm doing a home brew roof rack next.... Prob next week.

Ok Just got done with my roof basket..... Made of scrap treated lumber...I used wood glue on each piece I screwed together.... I also put bondo all the corners....I primed it, undercoated it, then painted it flat black....Next I have left over stock stainless I will use for the corners...I was hoping it wouldn't look too bad..It's not heavy and it is strong...It will look much better when I put those plates on...From afar it looks good I think but up close I didnt sand my bondo too well...Too me about 3-4 hours to build..

Thanks...I was wanting one but don't have a welder...And didn't feel like paying a couple hundred....I have access to a wood shop so that's what I did...I figured they made truck beds out of wood for years..Why not a basket? In a few years if it looks shotty, I could repaint it or just make another..

looks good! Thats what I was going to do last year with the same concept from the truck beds but did a little more research and decided to go with conduit and screw it together. worked out pretty good, able to hold a couple hundred pounds easily. nice work
