So I recently got a 98 Grand Limited 5.9, with 130k. Im looking to replace the shocks all around soon. Not really looking for a lift, just something decent, dosent have to be top end or anything, wont be doing more than some off road trails for now. Just not sure exactly what im looking for. If someone could give me some suggestions or maybe a link to something would be great! Got a friend to help me install em just needa get the parts.
As for the knocks, its not bad, but when I go over a bump and turn at low speed generally the front (left more so) gives a slight clunk/knock whatever. What are bushings that generally lead to this called and/or where are they exactly? Ive done a bit with cars but never Jeeps and/or suspensions. Name or pic would be awesome! Thanks, here a couple quick shots of her. Everythings basically stock as far as I can tell, 1 owner with a list of scheduled maint from the dealer on the carfax, so it was taken care of.
Using it as my DD atm, its too comfy not to! But also want to do a few performance type mods. Intake/exhaust etc, any suggestions/tips welcome! Thanks again

Nice Jeep! Cool air vents in the hood too. I don't have pics but search up Lower Control Arms. They are one of the possible bumps, there are a few others as well.

Thanks to you both! I know where the control arms are
Will check em out after work. I almost started wondering today if it was coming from the shocks themselves? Not sure

Clean 9er you got there. For mods I would get a 52mm TB, K&N CAI or any other, Nice set of headers, new 2.25" down pipes as the stock ones are so restrictive. Take a look at the pass side pipe when your under it you will see what I mean. Then a 3" Y pipe into a 3" exhaust all the way back. Then contact hemifever@aol.com and talk with him about getting an SCT tuner for you 9er. You will not regret it! Another easy upgrade is the Ford 24lb/hr injectors. Also, come over to thespeedfreaks.net and check us out!

Thanks for the comments and ideas! Also I am signed up over at Speedfreaks lol, done alot of reading here and there, just havent posted there.
Still lookin to find some replacement shocks all around. Like I said, not real sure what Im lookin for, more of a stock or slightly better than stock replacement. Not real concerned with lifting it atm. If anyone could suggest a good brand and/or site/store to buy them from would be much appreciated! Thanks again!

I just replaced mine with Monroe Reflex and could not be any happier! I just wanted a stock replacement that was a little more controlled, so I started with their Sensa Trac and they were just as mushy as the stockers. The Reflex are very comfortable, controlled, and inexpensive.

Get out there and rock the Jeep around, bouncing on all 4 corners and see if you locate the sound. My driver's rear shock was making noise but it's quiet now with the new ones (at least quiet enough to hear my lower control arm rattling!). Keep in mind that the stock shocks on the WJ used a slightly wider bushing at the top than your replacements will, so just add one or two beefy flat washers so that it's all tight up there or else you'll have a bad rattle.
