Hesitation/missing/bucking only when warm

Hesitation/missing/bucking only when warm
Hey everyone,
1992 XJ 4.0
235,000 mi
My most recent problem is pretty interesting, it's got me banging my head against a wall.
I'm getting a nasty hesitation or miss when taking off from a start. Here are the symptoms:
Only in 1st gear, from a stop.
Only when warm (after 10-20 minutes driving)
Check Engine Light accompanies the miss (i'm guessing its a misfire code)
I get a weird sulfur smell
After 1st time missing, trans ceases to shift correctly (shifts at higher rpm)
There is a nasty knock/lifter rattle when under heavy throttle (I checked and it's not the fan, it sounds like a lifter or a knock)
White/blue smoke accompanies rattle/knock
I have replaced:
MAP sensor
O2 sensor
Vacuum/PCV tubes
Spark plugs
I plan to replace:
Fuel filter
Air Filter
CPS
TPS
What am I dealing with??
Clogged cat?
Faulty torque converter?
Trans bad?
Timing off?
T-Case chain rattling?
But why only when hot??

It's been a few weeks, and I've replace the TPS and Idle Air Control Vale, tightened vacuum hoses, replaced cap and rotor and inspected the flex plate bolts which were fine. I also cleaned the throttle body and the air cleaner.
I'm at the point now where I am in school without a car and it has been one heck of a hassle. My girlfriend goes to work an hour later than I do so I have been missing an hour of work on days I don't have class.
My dad is taking it to get a trans flush and check for combustion in the coolant. Other than that I am labeling this a lost cause. I got a line on a '99 with 160,000 mi I am going to look at this weekend.
Any other suggestions on what to look for?
