The Rustiest thing on the car was the steering box, the rest of the car was good and rust free, Sorry the pictures are not great but car has 179k on the clock but it drove extremely well, engine was quiet no ticking or weird noises. Tested the 4WD and that works and disengaged without needing to be reversed, the trans shifts good.

Only thing that is bothering me is the front dent and the miles.

It has the OEM Hitch but no trans cooler so no tow package.

Wanted to get your guys/Gals opinions, Main use is for DD.

Price is $2600

Talk the seller down a couple hundred bucks. Use the dent, missing spare, missing seat belt, and missing trim as bargaining leverage.

That year is known for having a head very susceptible to cracking. Search for as much info you need to determine if that one has the head problem. Here's a start:

I should mention this jeep is at a car shop/dealer

It originally was 3000, got him down to 2600 but when I mentioned the seatbelts they are going to fix them, and when I mentioned the missing trim he wouldnt budge, the car has been on CL for 18 days so I can maybe use that but I think it will practically impossible to lower it anymore.

Thanks! Yep checked that out it does have the 0331 head, coolant is bright green and it passed a block test. I would still need to do a compression test on it if I do pick it up.

Oil pressure was good at hot idle about 2 ticks up if not slightly below 2nd tick so thats good.

That is scaring me a little through head can crack at anytime but it seems like the fluids were changed and it wasnt neglected it appears the previous owners took care of it. It went from MS to MT to AK to FL .. Lol

Paying $100 now for a competent unbiased mechanic to inspect it is nicer than paying $2000 later to repair it.

If the head hasn't cracked by now with 175k on it, it may never crack as long as the cooling system is kept in tip top condition. There's a fleet of 2000-01 XJs where I work, most have over 150k on them. I have only seen two crack a cylinder head, and these Jeeps are not pampered.

Thanks for all you guys input I'm going to pass on it.

Even though the head hasn't cracked yet it would bother me that it would, 180k also a bit more than I wanted to buy in with.

Though It drove the best out of two other jeeps that had less miles (~130k) I've driven, these aren't rare so Ill just wait for another to pop up not in a rush to buy one.

Be very careful of low mileage ones they have their own set of issues like sitting for long periods of time.
