Default Passenger side leak

So the other day Charlotte NC got a ton of rain. When it rains extra heavy my passenger side of my 96 ZJ leaks. It doesnt drip in, the carpet gets wet from around the blower motor area im guessing. This last time it must have caused some electrical damage or something because now my heat wont turn off with the jeep unless I turn it off. Also my radio is completely dead for some reason. I guess at this point I just want to make sure the water doesn't get in. I could only find write ups and videos for XJ's. Does anyone know how to fix it on a ZJ?

A common problem is the HVAC box drain leaking at the junction where the condensation is supposed to enter the frame rail.

Has that issue been excluded?

If not leaking at that point, then the fresh air inlet is directly above that point, below the passenger windshield wiper, under the plastic cowl cover. Maybe removing the wipers and that cover will reveal the problem.

What permitted determination of the leak being at the cowl, not the drain?

Well I guess I shouldn't say for sure. I peeked in there and saw a bunch of leaves and standing water. I will dig into it tomorrow hopefully. I havent got it yet because I was tracking down an electrical issue draining the battery, which turned out to be the aftermarket radio. Ill post again when I get in there. Thanks!

So I finally got into my cowl hood today. We had heavy rain last night so when I got in my jeep today there was a significant amount of water on the passenger floor board. When I got the cowl off there was no water under the passenger side of the cowl, completely dry. There was a decent amount of water on the driver side as well as leaves. I cleaned it out as well as under the wipers as well as I could. I also didnt see any water anywhere else around the windshield, door molding, etc. Could this bee the issue? I guess ill find out next time it rains.

My 96 has been having water on the driver's floor when it rains. It is parked on a slight slope toward the driver's side and the water collects along the outside edge by the sill and around the left foot rest. Might this be from the cowl above? I had vacuumed all the leaves and oak catkins out of it a couple of weeks ago and several times since, so no buildup. Is there something under the cowl screen I should be checking? This truck used to get water under the back seat when it was parked in a different place, but now floor under the back seat remains dry.

Well, kind of. So I clean all the leaves out from under my cowl and put a little cylicone in the upper corners of my window where the molding over lapped. There was a small hole between the molding. I'll get a picture for you tomorrow. After I did bother of those things it hasn't leaked since. Hopefully this helps a little.
