need your brilliance
I searched and read a few threads on this, and there seemed to be no consensus, this is a cal lto everyone that's experienced this, what worked, what didn't...
95 zj, straight 6. Recently recharged A/C, when first starting car and A/C is on, belt squeels, and steering is a little tough. I've determined this is related to the A/C compressor, as when the A/C is off, there is no noise and steering is fine.
Question is, is the belt too loose and no having difficulty turning the compressor at first? or is the compressor about to seize? or will it? could this be related to the recharge? maybe the pressure is too high?
ideas?

Not having an auto tensioner is a PITA. I was having belt squeaking issues after doing some work. Tightening it up is a simple start.

Probably just a loose belt. That compressor takes about 7 hp to run. Tighten the belt and it will probably be OK

My belt squeals when you first turn on the AC. I have a new (3 mos old) belt. I would suppose that the power steering pump needs to be moved somewhat, as I suppose that the adjustment is at it's max and still not tight enough. Mine only squeals when you first turn on the AC and especially when your are turning..... thus the power steering pump is calling for more torque.

Since most lily the power steering pump is run off the belt then when the a/c is running there is not enuf tension to run both of them then that is what makes your steering hard to turn when your a/c is running tighten the belt.
