Default 2001 4.7 liter code question, HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2001 4.7 liter that the check engine light has been going on and off. Once I check the code it state that 201 the # 1 injector open/bad/ what ever. This problem goes on and off. When the check engine light is on the Jeep idles rough, doesn't seem to run bad at a higher RPM. Once the car cools down light goes off and it idles perfect. What should I check first? Pressure, Voltage, etc. I don't want to throw a new injector in it and start throwing money at the problem

If I do check the voltage, what should it read? Thanks for any help.

I'm curious, how many miles are on your vehicle?

Check this out. http://www.wjjeeps.com/faultcodes.htm
Look at "Retrieving Codes", and report back.

P0201 (M)
Injector # 1 Control Circuit
An open or shorted condition detected in control circuit for Injector # 1 or the INJ 1 injector bank.

I know the code, what is the next step you would take to fix this problem?

Seed is the go-to guy on this, but he until he gets here in a little while, check the injector harness and it's ground strap.

Sorry, I tried, but I'm no diagnostician. I always take my WJ to the dealer when it needs service.

Did you inspect the plug on the injector? You could try swapping the injector around and see if the code follows it to start with, that would be the cheapest way to find out if the actual injector is faulty.
