Default what's the dumbest thing you've done.

just a thought, but what's the dumbest thing/situation you've ever gotten your self and jeep into? and if damage was involved how much did it cost to fix?

I'll start this out...
I had just finished installing the lift kit on my XJ so I wanted to go "see what it could do" after climbing a few moderate trails I decided to try a pretty gnarly hill. after a few attempts at a pretty rough off camber section I couldn't get past (front and rear open diffs) I thought I'd try a different line. there were a few boulders that I couldn't quite get over, so I noticed right before the "bad" section there was a "little" lip on the trail. so in my finest moment of brilliance I decided to hit the lip and jump the "bad" section like a step up. the front end cleared everything OK, the rear end...
well, when I landed I heard a loud bang. I was past the obstacle and nearing the top of the trail. but for some reason even though the hill had started to level off I just couldn't make it. that's when I looked in the rear view mirror and saw my rear drive shaft laying in the trail behind me. I get out of my Jeep to get my drive shaft, and that's when I noticed I had broken both rear leaf springs. I looked under the XJ, and that's when I noticed I'd sheared off the rear pinion yoke. after backing down the hill and limping the XJ home on the front axle, the tear down began.
the drive shaft had a nice U shape in it now, so it would be replaced. the leaf springs on both sides were creased, so they got replaced. after a trip to Scotty's Jeeps & inland drive line, then to auto zone for some new seals and 4 west for some new shackles, that's when I noticed my wallet was a lot lighter.

the total cost of my oops was $485.00, but this story... Priceless

Considering the amount of things that have needed to be fixed in the mere 8 months I've owned it, I'd say buying it was the dumbest thing I've ever done.

I'm wondering when I'm going to put the key in and it just explodes, I've gone this far though so I'm going to keep shoveling the money to it till I'm broke and homeless.

no I don't have any digital pics, that happened about 8 years ago. I have before and after pics from that day, of installing the lift, none of the carnage. it's funny now, but when it happened my wife was pretty POed
